The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel

The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel are now open longer hours than ever before. It is advisable to queue early as by mid morning the queue is often enormous. Once inside head straight for the Sistine Chapel and view Michelangelo's ceiling. They can be reached by public transport. The ceiling in the Sistine Chapel moving west to east depicts the Separation of Light from Darkness, Creation of Sun, Moon and Planets, Separation of Land and Sea and the Creation of Fishes and Birds, the brief but nevertheless romantic encounter between Adam and Eve, Temptation and Expulsion from Paradise, Sacrifice of Noah, Flood and Inebriation of Noah.

Opening Hours: March 8th till October 29th, December 27th till 31st, Saturday march 20th and april 10th: 8:45 am - 3:20 pm.

All other periods of the year, Saturdays and last Sunday of each month: 8:45 am - 12:20 pm

Closed: Sundays, except for the last Sunday of the month and following religious holidays: January 1st and 6th, February 11th, March 19th, April 12th, May 20th, June 10th and 29th, August 14th, November 1st, December 8th and 25th.

Borghese Gallery and Museum

One of the most important collections of its kind. Most famous is the collection of paintings, the sculptures by Bernini and the paolina Borghese by Canova.

Opening Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (entrance every two hours) close on Mondays

The Colosseum and Roman Forum

The Coloseum and Roman Forum are Rome's most popular attractions. Left the temple of Saturn, unofficial live theatre performances are held in the Roman Forum most evenings. So if you are looking for something a bit different why not lend your ears to these amateur performers and spend a romantic eveningin the Roman Forum.
